I am a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, San Diego. My primary research interest is race/ ethnicity and political representation in the comparative and American contexts.
My dissertation research examines the behavior and homestyle of representatives of legislators in their districts. I examine the patterns of constituency engagement, communication, and district funding of US House Members.
If you have questions about my research, please contact me via email: lspangle[at]ucsd[dot]edu.
Thanks to my research (and for fun, to be honest!), I spend a lot of my time working in R and Python. I am continually seeking new ways to make my code more efficient and transparent. I’m also active in the R-Ladies group in San Diego.
